The competitor's price must be publicly advertised, current and verifiable, and the item must be available locally at the time of purchase. Mandatory fees, such as delivery, installation and/or handling charges, are included in the price comparison.
Mandatory Conditions
Upon Presentation of Proof of the Advertised Price:
- A flyer, screenshot or website page, either printed or displayed on a phone.
The competitor's price must be in Canadian dollars, and the product must meet all the following criteria:
- Identical Product
- Same brand, model number, size and specific features
- Identical manufacturer's warranty
- The product must be available for purchase at the time of verification or within a comparable timeframe
- New Product
- The product must be new and factory-sealed
- Authorized Canadian Retailer
- The price must be offered by a retailer with a physical store location in Canada
- The product must be available locally at the time of purchase
- Peer-to-peer selling platforms and third-party sellers (Marketplace, eBay, Kijiji, Facebook Marketplace, etc.) are excluded, as are deal aggregation websites and retailer comparison platforms
Exclusions
The following are not eligible:
- Pricing errors; environmental handling fees (as required by Quebec law); clearance sales; store closures; preorders, special orders or out-of-stock products; employee sales; corporate or commercial offers; discounts requiring a paid membership; coupons, mail-in rebates or limited-quantity promotions; used, refurbished or open-box products; warranty replacements or new purchases covered by a manufacturer's warranty claim
Verification
Tanguay reserves the right to verify the accuracy of any proof provided and confirm that all applicable conditions have been met before approving a price adjustment or price match request.
Final Decision
All requests are subject to management approval. Tanguay reserves the right to refuse any request that does not meet all the criteria outlined in this policy.
