Choose your own mattress, the bed is designed to accommodate most standard full mattresses (8 to 10 in. or 20.3 to 25.4 cm thick; 60 to 90 lb or 27.2 to 40.8 kg; 54 x 75 in. or 137 x 190.5 cm) and supports up to 1000 lb (453.6 kg), including the weight of the mattress.
When open, the bed requires 84.9 in. (215.6 cm) of clearance from the wall. The bed cabinet must be anchored to a wall with a minimum height of 86.4 in. (219.5 cm).
Allow for 30 in. (76.2 cm) to 36 in. (91.44 cm) of free space around the open bed. The dual-mounting mechanism secures the bed to both the wall and the floor for maximum stability and durability. To prevent injury, the Murphy bed must be installed into the wall and floor structure by a professional or a qualified person.
Two people are required for assembly. Installation involves securing the unit to wood studs or masonry, removing the baseboard, and drilling into the floor (if removal is required later, holes can be covered with baseboards measuring 0.5 in. / 1.3 cm or more in thickness).
All necessary hardware is included. Do not use for children or pets under 50 lb (22.7 kg).
The Murphy bed is covered by a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty from Bestar. Made in Quebec from globally sourced materials.
