The KitchenAid KCGD500GSS 30-inch gas cooktop combines the precision of four sealed burners with a downdraft ventilation system integrated directly into the cooking surface. This design provides a functional, open cooking area without requiring a traditional range hood above the countertop.
Featuring two professional burners rated at 17,000 and 15,000 BTU, a 5,000 BTU Even-Heat™ simmer burner, and a 300 CFM ventilation system, it offers the versatility needed for everything from high-heat cooking to delicate preparations.
The integrated ventilation system draws smoke, steam, and odours directly from the cooking surface, eliminating the need for an additional range hood. With a 300 CFM exhaust capacity, it provides ventilation for high-temperature cooking techniques such as searing meats and pan-frying.
The three-speed fan lets you adjust the ventilation power according to what you are preparing and the intensity of the cooking.
The ventilation system can exhaust smoke and odours outdoors through ductwork. For kitchens where exterior venting is not possible, the cooktop can also be converted to recirculating operation using a duct-free conversion kit, sold separately.
This flexibility provides more options when planning your cooking space, particularly in kitchens where the layout limits the installation of a traditional range hood.
The 17,000 BTU professional burner delivers intense heat for searing meats, stir-frying, and wok cooking. Its power supports cooking techniques that require high temperatures while also offering lower settings for preparations that call for gentle simmering.
A second 15,000 BTU professional burner helps bring liquids to a boil quickly and allows you to prepare other foods at high temperatures at the same time.
The 5,000 BTU Even-Heat™ simmer burner is designed to provide precise heat control at low temperatures. Its heat-diffusing plate helps distribute the flame more evenly at the lowest setting for gently simmering sauces and melting delicate ingredients.
The melt burner cap also helps diffuse gentler heat for melting chocolate or butter, preparing delicate sauces, or poaching eggs without exposing foods directly to excessive heat.
The electronic ignition system lights the burners with an electric spark, eliminating the need for a continuously burning pilot light. If a flame is accidentally extinguished, the automatic reignition system produces another spark to relight the affected burner.
This feature helps provide convenient and reliable operation while preparing meals.
Full-width cast-iron grates provide a stable, continuous surface for pots and pans. They make it easier to move cookware from one burner to another without having to lift it completely.
Stainless steel control knobs complement the cooktop’s design and make it easy to adjust the flame intensity of each burner.
